For their second release, following Fireberg’s Call of the Phoenix EP, Mishbaka delivers the Myami Rain EP, a collaboration between producer, Fireberg, and vocalist J Hoard, including one original track and a set of five remixes including renditions by glitch pioneer, Prefuse 73; Detroit house veteran, Rick Wade; and contemporary deep house apostle, J Gabriel.

The original track showcases the extended vocal range and technical abilities of singer, J Hoard, whereby gospel and r&b motifs abound over Fireberg’s liquid drum & bass-influenced synth and sample work. The song delivers a message about accepting and appreciating one’s life -- the accomplishments, the failures and the present moment. Prefuse 73 sets the original vocal over an even more elegant, half-time r&b experience, while peppering the beat with his signature glitch and stutter sound designs. J Gabriel and Rick Wade both deliver certified club-shakers, gracefully weaving in samples from the original, but each in their own way, with Wade bringing the classic sounds of the 90’s and J Gabriel delivering a contemporary, percussion-heavy deep house aesthetic. To round out the package, Fireberg provides an alternative remix under his pseudonym Inbeatitude, reharmonizing the track and adding electro-acoustic instruments like bass and wurlitzer piano. An instrumental version of the Prefuse 73 remix and an acapella of the J Hoard vocal are also provided.

The EP is a diverse and stylized offering with top-quality production from all parties. Whether it’s a light drizzle in a lounge or a torrential downpour at the club, these tracks have got you covered. Just don’t forget your umbrella.
